Mercy Almona-Isei hails from Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State. She was elected Member of the House of Representatives for Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in 1999, then served successive terms through to 2011. During her tenure she represented the constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Prior to her election to the National Assembly, she had a distinguished career in journalism and public relations: she worked as Senior Editor at the Nigerian Television Authority (Benin City) and as a senior reporter/editor in print media, and later as Managing Director of Gordon Associates Ltd., Lagos, in the communications/PR sector. She also served in the Delta State Government as Commissioner for Information and Culture.
