Sir Monday John Onyeme is the current Deputy Governor of Delta State, serving alongside Governor Sheriff Oborevwori since May 29, 2023. A native of Ibabu, Onicha-Ukwuani in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, he previously served as Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR), where he introduced reforms that enhanced revenue generation and fiscal policies. Sir Onyeme is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a member of several professional associations in taxation and finance, demonstrating both leadership and expertise in public administration and fiscal governance.
Chief Benjamin Elue is a politician, educationist, and community leader from Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha North Local Government Area, part of the Anioma region of Delta State. He made history as the first Anioma-born Deputy Governor of Delta State, serving two consecutive terms under Governor Chief James Onanefe Ibori between 1999 and 2007. Before entering politics, Chief Elue was a respected academic, serving as a Senior Lecturer at the College of Education, Agbor. As Deputy Governor, he was instrumental in promoting policies on education, human capital development, and inter-ethnic unity. He was also a steady voice for Anioma inclusion in state affairs, advocating developmental projects across Delta North during the early years of democratic governance in the Fourth Republic. After leaving office, Chief Elue remained an influential elder statesman and community leader, contributing to local education and traditional development.
