The campaign for the creation of Anioma State has gained renewed momentum as Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko led a high-level delegation of Anioma traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders on a courtesy visit to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, at his residence in Abuja.
The visit is part of ongoing consultations aimed at advancing the Anioma State proposal through constitutional and legislative channels, as stakeholders intensify efforts to build national consensus around the long-standing demand.
Senator Nwoko reiterated that the Anioma State movement is a collective aspiration driven by the will of the people, rather than a personal or isolated initiative. He noted that he has consistently presented the proposal before the National Assembly, engaging relevant actors and advocating for its inclusion in national discussions on constitutional amendment.
He further emphasized that the increasing visibility of the Anioma cause reflects sustained advocacy, growing awareness, and widening support across different segments of governance. According to him, the visit by the delegation underscores a shared sense of purpose and a coordinated strategy toward achieving the desired objective.
In his response, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, commended the delegation for their unity, organization, and commitment to peaceful and constitutional engagement. Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, His Royal Majesty Herry Kikachukwu, Obi of Ubulu-Unor and second Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and assurances given.
