The call for the creation of Anioma State is not a new struggle. It is a journey that began many years ago, driven by the hopes and identity of the Anioma people.
This vision can be traced back to respected leaders like Dennis Osadebay and other early advocates who first gave voice to the idea of a distinct Anioma identity within Nigeria’s political structure. Over the years, many sons and daughters of Anioma have contributed their efforts; through advocacy, dialogue, and political engagement, to keep this dream alive.
Today, that long-standing aspiration has found renewed energy in the work of Senator Ned Nwoko. Since assuming office, he has taken deliberate steps to move the conversation from aspiration to practical progress. Through legislative efforts, national conversations, and consistent public engagement, the Anioma State movement has gained stronger visibility and seriousness at the federal level.
His recent statement, “I did not start it, but I will finish it,” speaks directly to this history. It acknowledges the foundational work of past leaders while expressing a clear commitment to see the process through.
Where are we now? The conversation around Anioma State is no longer on the sidelines. It is active, recognized, and steadily advancing within Nigeria’s broader discussions on restructuring and state creation. What was once a distant dream is gradually taking shape as a realistic goal. Senator Ned Nwoko has, hence, renewed his commitment to completion of the process of the creation of Anioma State once again.
However, no movement of this scale succeeds on the strength of one individual alone. It requires collective belief, unity, and sustained support from the people it represents. As the journey continues, there is a growing need for Anioma people to rally behind Senator Ned Nwoko’s renewed commitment.
Supporting Senator Ned Nwoko in this effort is about completing a generational mission and securing a stronger future for Anioma people through statehood. The foundation has been laid. The momentum is building. Now, the task before us is to stand together with him to see it to the end.
