In response to the overwhelming support and momentum generated by the sponsorship of the Anioma State Creation Bill (SB. 481) in the 10th National Assembly by Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, the people of Anioma took a bold and historic step to institutionalize the advocacy through the formation of a high-level Technical Committee on the Actualization of Anioma State.
This committee is a broad-based, inclusive platform made up of traditional rulers, lawmakers, technocrats, youth leaders, legal experts, civil society representatives, and members of the private sector. The inauguration of the committee took place at Ogwa Ukwu, Asaba, on June 15, It was a solemn and symbolic ceremony, with all members taking an oath of office administered by Mr. Azuka Paul Maduemezie, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Asaba Branch. The committee is chaired by His Royal Majesty, Professor Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, the Asagba of Asaba, with the Dein of Agbor, His Imperial Majesty Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi, serving as Co-Chairman, and The Ezemu of Emu, HRM Obuenwe Johnson Ekpechi, as Vice Chairman. However, on the 21st of November 2025, His Royal Majesty, the Obuzor of Igbuzor, Professor Louis Chelunor Nwaoboshi, a distinguished Historian, took charge as the Chairman of the Technical Committee on the Actualization of Anioma State.
